Modern Wabi Sabi Home Renovation
A Journey of Creation, Connection to Nature, Craftsmanship & Sublime Beauty
This amazing home is a result of a love for design, craftsmanship and nature along with a deep collaboration of designers and craftspeople. The owners wanted a more cohesive connection with their gorgeous yard and they wanted a fireproof house (or as close as possible). Furthermore the front door was impossible to find as it was on the backside of the home. We explored several options and decided on a small front addition that made the home flow better along with a defined pathway and front entry to their home. We opened the backyard up with a 15 foot La Cantina Bifold door. The result is a joyous, comfortable, and profoundly warm and live-able home. The owner’s Japanese roots are expressed in the elaborate woodworking from reclaimed redwood.
